Things have been going too well, so Missy has decided to push for her way.
She is desperately trying to refuse to do her light therapy.
I say trying, because as far as I am concerned, if she won't follow the morning routine everything stops right there and she is "benched" until she decides to get back with the program, so balking the system is not getting her anywhere.
She cried,
she fussed,
she said she would obey as she continued to hold out.
I held out longer.
The bench got hard.
The breakfast started to disappear.
Things were getting desperate...
SAD.
"Why do you do this to yourself kiddo? What do you gain?"
It blows my mind and makes me crazy...
but to my self I'm singing to the tune of Frere Jacques:
I don't like it,
I don't like it,
That's okay,
That's okay,
I can stand it anyway,
I can stand it anyway,
It's okay.
It's okay.
NO, I don't like feeling like the wicked-witch-of-the-West who won't give in to the drooping, pleading eyes of the poor little waif who just wants to do her own thing first thing in the morning. Actually, I don't always feel pitiful towards her. I do have to ask God for help when the kid defies me. I do feel sorry that she makes her life so hard. I am indignant towards those who should have taught her in the first place, but that is past.
She can learn
even if it takes years.

You are describing my day!!! Why do they insist day after day!!
If you don't mind, I am going to sing your song...I don't like it, I don't like it...
Oh me, oh my, do I ever understand!
The Lord has revealed to me the real issue...
We can not expect the child to display the attitude/behavior of one who is born again.
Rather, we are dealing with heathens, who behave like heathens.
Washing with the word, praying, discipline and training, these are the tools God has given us to "minister Christ" and salvation to our children.
Blessings,
Summer
Boy can I related! Just had one of those moments with my Jacob yesterday! I don't understand why he wants to choose such silly battles....and he KNOWS I'm going to win! Fortunately, God gave me just a measure more stubbornness than him, so I can outlast him, but I swear....it's so illogical! But maybe that's the problem: we're expecting them to behave logically.....not gonna happen!
