Not So Smug

Well, I hesitate to write this...
Things are not going as I planned.
It might just be the story of our lives this school year. 

Apparently, 

my kiddos don't learn cause to effect very well. 

At least Christina is getting exercise
and the air is fresh and clean this morning.
I wish it was me getting the exercise,
but Christina is not old enough to legally stay alone with the babies yet.

Missy had to walk to school today. 

She was sweet until I asked her to start her chores...

Then it was whine, fuss, pout and finally

time-out.

She wouldn't let it go.

I prayed with her

and worked with her

to no avail.

Suddenly she was worried about walking to school

and got her act together.

BUT 

it was too late.

She was not ready when the bus came and went.

She cried.

She declared she hated walking, etc...

but

thankfully she decided to forgo the all-out tantrum and just get ready.

I clocked a new route. It's 2 and a half miles and more direct.

She made it to school before the bell.

The bus driver brought Christina home.

She happens to live near us.... AND is a therapeutic foster parent.

She totally gets it and just recently adopted a couple of  teens from the hard places.

It's so nice when people understand.
