why would a chicken eat the eggs? Is that common?
well, apparently if you have week shells they start eating the eggs to clean them up. We have one hen that laid several eggs with weak shells... in fact a couple have had no shells at all, just a membrane. So this one hen took a liking to eggs and she was cracking nearly half the eggs and eating a good many. since she is in confinement we have no more trouble. No cracks even.
